BATANGAS-EAC used a late spurt to drop McDavid, 79-57, for its breakthrough win in the 2019 PBA D-League on Thursday at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Earvin Mendoza scattered 25 points, going 3 for 8 from beyond the arc, to go with three assists and two rebounds as Batangas-EAC evened its record to 1-1, while sending McDavid to its second loss in the Aspirants Group.
"I'm very happy with Earvin. He stepped up for us," said coach Oliver Bunyi, who got his first win at the helm for Batangas-EAC.
Clark Derige added 16 points and four rebounds, as Allan Martin got 11 points, four dimes and three boards.
It was a quick start for the Generals, starting hot off the gates with a 12-0 blast.
McDavid got to within six, 54-48, with nine minutes left in the payoff period, before Mendoza and Derige conspired in staging a 25-9 finishing tear to take the wire-to-wire victory.
Rev Diputado poured 16 points and five rebounds as he was the lone McDavid player to notch double-digits in scoring.
Michole Sorela added nine and six.
