EA Regen dashes Jumbo Plastic's qfinal hopes

EA Regen improved its chances in the quarterfinals, while ending the hopes of league newcomer Jumbo Plastic with a 105-79 victory on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

It was a huge win for the Regens, who just a couple days ago suffered a 73-77 loss to Big Chill.

Alex Nuyles, a recent acquisition from Big Chill, scored 21 points as the Regens gained a share of fourth place with Cagayan Valley with a 6-4 win-loss record. The third and fourth ranked teams at the end of the eliminations will have a twice-to-beat advantages in the quarterfinals.

“Malaki ang pag-asa namin na mag-No. 4,” said EA Regen Medical Group coach Allan Trinidad.

Jumbo Plastic had its three-game winning streak snapped and at 4-6, the rookie team is now out of contention for a quarterfinal berth.

Raymund Almazan had 17 points and 15 rebounds, while Ian Sangalang added 16 points for the Regens, who will next face defending champion NLEX in hopes of solidifying its quarterfinal chance.
