    Cagayan Valley overcomes Jerramy King's 40-point night, beats AMA University to reach D-League semifinals

    DON Trollano had 31 points and 10 rebounds, scoring the final seven points of the game, as Cagayan Gerry’s advanced to the semifinals with a 107-103 win over AMA University in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.

    Trollano closed out the game in style, singlehandedly overcoming a 100-103 deficit to enable the third-seeded Rising Suns to gain entry to the semifinals where they will face Cafe France in a best-of-three showdown.

    AMA’s Jerramy King scored the most points in PBA D-League history with 40. The previous record was 36, set by Air21-Jose Rizal University’s Byron Villarias two years ago.

    After James Martinez gave AMA a 103-100 lead, Trollano buried a triple to tie the game before converting on a driving basket for a 105-103 advantage with 51.1 seconds left in the extra period.

    Trollano also hit two free throws with 5.1 ticks to play to settle the final score.

    Michael Mabulac had a double-double, scoring 25 points and hauling down 17 rebounds for the Rising Suns.

    Jay-R Taganas played the whole 45 minutes of the game and had 11 points and 23 rebounds for sixth seed AMA.

    AMA (103) — King 40, Martinez 18, Maiquez 15, Taganas 11, Asuncion 10, Tampus 9, Jordan 0, Terso 0.
