KEVIN Gandjeto powered Diliman College-Gerry's Grill to a 108-95 whipping of skidding Wangs Basketball Tuesday in the 2019 PBA D-League at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.
The Beninese forward pumped 33 points, 17 rebounds, three steals, and two blocks to fan the Blue Dragons' playoff hopes with their even 3-3 win-loss card in the Foundation Group.
Joseph Brutas also waxed hot from deep with his six treys to unload 19 points, as Marco Balagtas got himself a double-double with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Diliman-Gerry's was quick to assert control of the game as it took a 40-21 lead early and extended it to a 23-point advantage, 62-39, in the third frame.
Axel Inigo and Arvin Tolentino tried to mount a fightback, getting to as close as eight, 70-62, with 2:18 remaining in the quarter, before Brutas drained a pair of triples to once again bring the lead back up to 14, 78-64, late and used that to cruise to the comfortable victory.
Blue Dragons coach Rensy Bajar is convinced that his side can still perform better as they eye to make a late run to the playoffs.
"The way were playing, we're starting to pick up. I think we can show some more and play good basketball," he said.
Inigo fired 33 points and five rebounds for the Couriers, as Tolentino got 16 before fouling out in the fourth quarter.
Wangs continued its fall from grace with this third straight defeat to drop to 3-4.
