DAVE Ildefonso would rather stick to the positives as SMDC-NU has yet to log a win in three outings in the 2019 PBA D-League.
"Desperate kami sa panalo pero we're taking it one game and one day at a time. We're trying to improve every day to least get better and better and hopefully to get the win next game namin," he said.
Frustrations continued to mount on the Bulldogs as they once again suffered another defeat, this time an 82-73 loss to Valencia City Bukidnon-SSCR on Monday as they remained at the cellar in the Foundation Group.
Even though it was another strong showing for Ildefonso, nabbing 21 points, six assists, four rebounds, one steal, and one block, those efforts still weren't enough to stop his side from sliding down to a 0-3 win-loss slate.
The 18-year-old forward didn't deny that SMDC-NU's slide is already getting on the team's nerves as the team has yet to churn out a respectable showing in the developmental league.
"Hindi kami masaya sa resulta ngayon, na 0-3 na kami tapos wala pa kaming rhythm," he said.
Despite these struggles, Ildefonso knows that the Bulldogs have no other option but to keep the faith as they try to correct their mistakes in preparation for UAAP Season 82 later this year.
And that also goes for the 6-foot Ildefonso.
As much as he's SMDC-NU's leading scorer at 16.0 points per game and assists man at 4.3 dimes per outing, the second-generation star is still on a path to improving his game, knowing that no one can get the job done just by himself.
"It’s still the same eh. First year pa lang, mataas na agad ang expectations sa akin and I'm still facing it with the same perspective na hindi ako yung savior," he said. "I’m just here to create and help my teammates to get better and help this school to win." Rusty Magsakay
