AFTER a runner-up finish last conference, Racal suffered an early exit in the 2017 PBA D-League Foundation Cup after losing to Batangas, 90-95, on Thursday at Ynares Arena in Pasig.
Racal coach Jerry Codiñera didn’t mince words in expressing his thoughts with the team’s disappointing follow-up to its Aspirants Cup stint where the squad reached the finals.
"Lousy (ang naging laro namin). Ayun lang yung kaya naming gawin. Buti atleast nakahabol noong bandang huli," he said.
Codiñera said that Racal Motors struggled in the conference because of adjusting to lineup changes throughout the tournament.
"Mataas ang expectation kasi nag-finals kami last time. Kaso siyempre nag-iba kami ng personnel, so ayun ganun talaga maraming adjustment na nangyari," he said.
Yet despite the dismal exit, Codiñera appreciated the fight shown by his wards but was mum on the team’s plans for the next D-League season.
"Okay naman (ang players). That's the best that they could do. I didn't expect much. Marami din talagang nagkulang dahil sa mga lineup," he said
"I don't know. We'll see, wala pang plans," added Codiñera.
