    Hawkeyes one win away from outright semis berth after rout of Heavy Bombers

    CIGNAL-San Beda had a scintillating start and routed Jose Rizal University, 94-50, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

    The Hawkeyes overpowered the Bombers, 28-13, in the first period and improved their win-loss record to 7-1, one win away from clinching an outright semifinals berth.

    Robert Bolick led Cignal-San Beda with 16 points, four rebounds, and three assists.

    Ben Adamos and Andres Cahilig scored 11 points apiece.

    JRU fell to a 3-4 card.

    "I'm just happy with the way we played today. We really limited Tey Teodoro and Paolo Pontejos," said Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez.

    The Hawkeyes built a 24-point lead, 40-16, in the second period.

    Abdel Poutouochi was the lone bright spot for the Heavy Bombers as the big man finished with 10 points and seven rebounds.
