CIGNAL-San Beda played solid from start to finish in scoring an 88-74 victory over Cafe France on Monday, their first win in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Byron Villarias and Jason Perkins showed the way as the Hawkeyes, coming off a loss to AMA Online Education in their conference opener, raced off to a 23-8 lead.
Cignal padded the lead to 73-49 in the opening minutes of the last period.
"I'm happy with the way our players played. Hopefully we'll be consistent," said Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez.
"Maybe this win will give us confidence and the trust in ourselves that we're capable of playing here."
Byron Villarias scored 13 of his 21 points in the final period.
Jason Perkins had 14 points and eight rebounds, while Robert Bolick added 10 for the Hawkeyes.

Congolese player Rod Ebondo had 29 points and 16 rebounds for Café France, which was coming off a pulsating win over Tanduay.
