IT’S either Cignal or Philex which the Manny V. Pangilinan group will carry in the coming season of the PBA D-League.
Virgil Villavicencio of the PLDT-Smart media affairs, said the MVP umbrella is definitely seeing action in the coming Aspirants Cup on October 27 in lieu of NLEX, which has taken its act to the PBA after purchasing the Air21 franchise.
“Dine-decide na lang kung anong kumpanya,” said Villavicencio to Spin.ph. “The MVP group will definitely play in the PBA D-League, pero ‘yung corporate name, ‘yun ang dine-decide pa.”
One of the brands that are being considered is Philex, which is under the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation where NLEX also belongs.
Cignal has already gained exposure in sports through the Philippine Superliga volleyball tournament.
NLEX dominated the D-League by winning six championships out of the seven conferences the Road Warriors saw action including the recent Foundation Cup, which served as the final conference of the team before jumping the pro league.
Several PBA players such as Calvin Abueva, Chris Ellis, Cliff Hodge, Ian Sangalang, and Greg Slaughter suited up for the Road Warriors during their stint in the D-League.
