A WELL-rested Cignal returns to action on Thursday as the Hawkeyes take on streaking Wangs Basketball in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup.
The match starts at 3 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, with the Hawkeyes looking to improve a 5-2 record after coming off a nine-day layoff.
Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez hopes the team shrugs off rust against a dangerous Couriers squad, who won their last two games for a 3-2 start.
“May mga mali pa rin, but we just have to be consistent and not be complacent in our coming games,” Fernandez said.
Wangs, likewise, is on a high following a 93-84 upset of Racal. Couriers coach Pablo Lucas and his crew are capitalizing on that much-needed boost against the Aspirants' Cup champions, who will be playing without Davon Potts as the San Beda gunner turns his focus on the NCAA season.
"Ngayon naging isa na kami. Kita naman sa mata ng mga players na ayaw talaga nilang matalo eh,” Lucas said.
Meanwhile, CEU Scorpions (2-2) are also looking to extend their winning stretch to three as they tackle listless AMA Online Education (0-4) in the 5 p.m. match.
