JESSIE Collado picked the right time to heat up as his fourth-quarter explosion steered Che’Lu Bar and Grill to an 88-71 shocker over Marinerong Pilipino on Monday in the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup at Ynares Sports Arena.
The veteran forward pumped in 10 of his 20 points in the payoff quarter to lead the Revellers to their first win of the conference. Jeff Viernes added 14 points, five rebounds, and four assists while as Jay-R Taganas recorded a double-double of 12 points and 10 boards.
“We played much better compared sa first game namin kasi kulang talaga kami sa preparations,” admitted coach Stevenson Tiu.
Che’Lu clawed its way back from an early nine-point deficit behind Viernes before completely turning the game around in the succeeding periods, outscoring the Skippers, 50-28.
The win restored Tiu's faith in his team after he questioned their commitment after the Revellers’ 94-78 loss to CEU last week.
“I asked for their commitment, lalo na sa veterans. Sabi ko sa kanila, kayo dapat ang mag-lead ng team and they responded very well. Hopefully, tuloy-tuloy na ito,” he said.
Robbie Manalang paced Marinerong Pilipino with 18 points and four assists, as Trevis Jackson got 16 points, six assists, and five boards in the defeat.
