CHADAO-FEU stopped its two-game losing run with a 106-81 win over The Masterpiece Clothing-Trinity University of Asia on Thursday in the 2019 PBA D-League at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Joseph Nunag made the most of his chances to power the Tamaraws with 16 points and five rebounds off the bench, while L-Jay Gonzales contributed 14 points, five boards, four steals and two assists.
Hubert Cani put up 16 points, three rebounds, and three assists, Brandrey Bienes just missed out on a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds, as Wendell Comboy and Cameroonian slotman Patrick Tchuente both scored 11.
With Chadao-FEU holding a 73-64 lead entering the fourth quarter, the game took a bizarre turn as four players from The Masterpiece-Trinity were called for technical fouls after not reporting to the table officials.
Nunag canned three of four of those freebies in what would be part of an 11-0 run that helped the Tamaraws put the White Stallions out of their misery, 84-64.
"Ang sinasabi ko lang sa kanila, we're here to get better each game. It doesn't matter if we're on a losing streak, but on a coaches' standpoint, if we feel na nagi-improve kami, ok kami kasi yun naman ang goal namin," said coach Olsen Racela.
Chadao-FEU leveled its standing to 2-2 in the Foundation Group, while keeping The Masterpiece-Trinity at the bottom of the standings at 0-3.
Bobby Balucanag paced the White Stallions with 31 points and six boards in the defeat.
