CHADAO-FEU claimed the last spot in the 2019 PBA D-League playoffs, escaping Centro Escolar University, 74-69, on Thursday at JCSGO Gym in Cubao.

L-Jay Gonzales showed the way for the Tamaraws with 15 points, five rebounds, five assists and three steals as they ended at fourth place in the Foundation Group with their 6-3 card.

Wendell Comboy chipped in 13 points, four boards, two assists and two steals, as Joseph Nunag had 12 points, three rebounds and two assists.

"Our goal is to make it to the playoffs and nakuha na namin ang first goal namin," said coach Olsen Racela.

Chadao-FEU will head to the quarterfinals against Aspirants Group top seed Cignal-Ateneo, who owns a twice-to-beat advantage, on Monday.

The Tamaraws held a 69-58 lead in the final 4:51 but Judel Fuentes staged a personal 9-0 run before Maodo Malick Diouf tied the game at 69 with 2:08 left.

But Branrey Bienes buried a three from the top of the arc, before Patrick Tchuente capped off a win with a putback dunk to make it a five-point affair as Chadao-FEU's defense did the trick in the clutch.

Fuentes powered CEU (7-2) with 24 points and four rebounds, as Diouf had 11 points, 11 rebounds, three steals and two blocks.

The Scorpions will still hold a twice-to-beat advantage in the playoffs, but their positioning will depend on the outcome of the game between Valencia City Bukidnon-SSCR and Diliman College-Gerry's Grill later in the day.

Marinerong Pilipino (5-4), meanwhile, has been eliminated in the process in the Foundation Group playoff chase.

    The scores:

    Chadao-FEU 74 - Gonzales 15, Comboy 13, Nunag 12, Tchuente 9, Flores 8, Stockton 6, Bienes 5, Celzo 4, Tuffin 2, Mantua 0.
