CENTRO Escolar University and Zark’s Burgers look to build on their breakthrough victories as they battle in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Thursday.
The Scorpions clash with the Jawbreakers in the 5 p.m. match at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, with both squads out to prove their first win was no fluke.
CEU coach Yong Garcia will again lean on foreign reinforcement Rod Ebondo as the Scorpions hope to improve their record to 2-2.
"We know na yung pressure is always there, pero sinasabi lang namin na ito na yung chance nila para mabigyan ng exposure at ma-showcase nila yung talent nila. We just have to grab the chance,” said Garcia, whose team beat Batangas, 72-70.
For his part, Zark's mentor Jade Padrigao was just glad he finally posted his first win after going 0-13 with Mindanao Aguilas last season and 0-3 to start the conference with the Jawbreakers.
“At least, wala na yung jinx,” he said in jest shortly after the team's 109-91 win over AMA Online Education last Monday to improve to 1-3.
Meanwhile, Batangas (2-1) tackles the listless Titans (0-3) in the curtain raiser at 3 p.m.
