CENTRO Escolar University stayed atop the heap after drubbing AMA Online Education, 118-83, in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The pacesetting Scorpions gained steam in the second period on their way to claiming their third straight victory and a 6-1 win-loss record.
Rod Ebondo led CEU with 27 points, nine rebounds, two assists, and the same number of steals.
But it was Art Patrick Aquino and Mshaal Veron who led the second quarter onslaught by combining for 21 points as CEU wrapped up the first half with a 67-41 lead.
From there, CEU hardly needed the Congolese import, who sat out the last 15 minutes of the match, even leading by as much as 41 points in the fourth period.
"Masaya ako sa nilaro ng mga bata. Nung umpisa binabasa pa namin adjustment para kay (Mac) Andaya. When we decided to run, maganda na ipinakita ng team," said CEU coach Yong Garcia.
The Titans, who were without coach Mark Herrera and some notable players like Andre Paras, fell to a 1-6 card.
Robbie Manalang paced AMA with 23 points, four rebounds, and two assists. Andaya added 19 points and 12 rebounds.
