CEBUANA Lhuillier kept alive its bid for a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals after beating Wangs Basketball, 85-62, on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
Norbert Torres had 16 points as the Gems solidified their hold of fifth place with a 5-4 win-loss card, one game behind Jumbo Plastic Linoleum (6-3).
“Kulang pa kami sa execution at yung role playing niia. Coming from different schools, different egos. You have to let them understand ’yung role nila,” said Cebuana Lhuillier coach Boycie Zamar.
The Jumbo Plastic Giants have a tougher schedule in the final stretch of the eliminations, as they have yet to take on undefeated early semifinalist Hapee.
In case of a tie between Cebuana Lhuillier and Jumbo Plastic, the Giants have the edge in the winner-over-the-other rule.
“Mahirap umasa sa ibang teams. You have to start winning for yourself. One game at a time pa rin kami dahil wala kaming control sa ibang teams,” said Zamar.
Wangs dropped to 2-7 win-loss.
