CEBUANA Lhuillier scored its third win in a row, downing Air21-Arellano, 89-71, on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
The Gems managed to even their win-loss record at 4-4 but are still far behind the race for the six playoff spots.
Still, head coach Boycie Zamar believes they can make up ground. They face third-running Jumbo Plastic Linoleum (8-3) on Thursday.
“Lalaban kami hanggang makakapit sa playoff,” said Zamar, whose team is in ninth place in the team standings.
Paul Zamar had 14 points, while Gab Banal had 12 points and six rebounds for the Gems.
Roi Sumang, Papot Paredes, and Bam Gamalinda each had 10 points as the Gems used all 14 players in the game.
“Kahit papaano, umabot kami sa third rotation,” Zamar said.
Joshua Webb finished with 20 points for the Chiefs, who lost for the 11th time in 12 outings.
