CAGAYAN Valley downed Jumbo Plastic Linoleum 83-74 on Monday to record back-to-back wins in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Arena in San Juan.
The Rising Suns, who trounced Informatics 98-56 on March 25, silenced the Giants as they poured in six straight points for an 11-point cushion, 77-63, late in the final canto.
Jumbo Plastic came up with seven unanswered points to make it 70-77 only to fall short of snatching the win.
"Depensa lang namin (ang key) para makalayo kami," said Cagayan Valley assistant coach Raymond Valenzona, who called the shots as head coach Alvin Pua was still in Cagayan.
"Nagsona sila, kami nag tao-tao. Di kasi kami maka-shoot sa labas kaya sa loob at sa fast break kami umiskor."
Eliud Poligrates led Cagayan with 17 points, while Adrian Celada and Ping Exciminiano added 14 and 13, respectively for the Rising Suns, now in fifth spot with a 2-1 win-loss card.
Jul-Ashri Ignacio came through with 16 markers for Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, while Aljon Mariano and Elliot Tan had 13 each for the Giants, who remain in 11th spot at 1-4.
Meanwhile, in the 3-on-3 games, Cebuana Lhuillier downed NLEX, 11-10, and Hog's Breath Cafe nipped Informatics, 14-13.
Alvin Padilla, Gab Banal, Gian Chiu and Jerald Baustista played for the Gems, while Kevin Alas, Jake Pascual, Garvo Lanete and Eric Camson were the representatives of the Road Warriors.
Michael Lima, Jefferson Morillo, Paul Alguno and Kevin Rabalo played for the Razorbacks, while Cedric Ablaza, Mark Montauno, Jayson Ibay and Eric Acuña saw action for the Icons.
