CAGAYAN Valley notched its second straight win, a 76-74 decision over Derulo Accelero, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup action at the Meralco Gym.
Lord Casajeros scored 15 of his 18 points in the first three quarters as the Rising Suns evened their win-loss record to 2-2 after losing two straight games to start the conference.
Jason Melano had 17 points and 16 rebounds while Kenneth Ighalo added 12 and 10, doing wonders in their role as undersized forwards.
“Talagang depensa ang nagdala at saka ’yung hardwork and determination sa practice. Gusto talaga nila manalo ngayon,” said Cagayan Valley assistant coach Ogie Gumatay.
“Ganun pa rin ang game plan talaga namin, pinag-kwatro (power forward) namin sila Ighalo at Melano. Nagpakamatay talaga sila sa bola,” Gumatay said.
The Rising Suns overcome a pesky Oilers squad that was able to cut the deficit to two points in the endgame. Clark Bautista sank a three-pointer in the end but time had already expired.
Derulo Accelero remained at the bottom at 0-4.
