Cagayan Valley downs Informatics for first win

Suns beat Icons for first win in Foundation Cup

CAGAYAN Valley piled up 29 points in the second period and used that as the springboard to a 98-56 victory over Informatics Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at The Arena in San Juan.

Chris Exciminiano and Mark Bringas combined for 16 points in the second period to help the Rising Suns build a 51-28 halftime lead.

The Rising Suns never trailed and captured their first win since reaching the finals last conference, where they lost to NLEX via sweep. Cagayan Valley suffered an overtime loss to Blackwater Sports in its opening game in the Foundation Cup.

The Icons, meanwhile, dropped to 0-3.

James Forrester had 12 of his 17 points in the third canto, while Exciminiano chipped in 14 points. John Lansang and Bringas each had 11.

The Rising Suns dominated inside as they outrebounded the Icons, 56-35, with John Montemayor and Bringas hauling down 11 and 10 boards respectively.
