CAGAYAN Gerry’s took full advantage of the ejection of Troy Rosario as the Rising Suns downed Hapee, 104-89, on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

Eric Salamat had 20 points and Abel Galliguez added 17 points for the Rising Suns, who hit 11 triples and shot 52 percent from the field in the lopsided end to the rematch between the Aspirants Cup finalists.

Cagayan Valley won its second straight game to improve its win-loss record to 3-2 .

Rosario was ejected at the 4:24-mark of the first quarter after hitting Galliguez in the head.

The Rising Suns then launched a 20-7 run for a 40-19 first quarter lead with Galliguez hitting three of his four triples.

It was the first time Hapee lost back-to-back games in the PBA D-League.

“Medyo masakit din ‘yung pagkatalo namin sa finals. Dapat lang gawin namin ito para mapatunayan namin na kaya namin silang talunin,” said Cagayan Gerry’s consultant Turo Valenzona.

The Fresh Fighters never recovered from Rosario’s early exit, with Bobby Ray Parks' conference-high 33 points not enough to carry the team.

Hapee wound up shooting just 39 percent from the field and dropped to a 2-3 win-loss slate.

Six players scored in double figures for the Rising Suns, with Jason Melano adding 13, Marion Magat 12, and Michael Mabulac and Moncrief Rogado each having 12 markers.

The scores:
