CAFE France bucked a sloppy start to thwart Victoria Sports-MLQU, 95-84, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
The Bakers stretched their win streak to four and solidified their hold on the second spot with a 5-1 win-loss record, while handing Victoria its fifth loss in six games.
Rod Ebondo topscored for the Bakers with 27 points on top of 18 rebounds, two assists, and five blocks.
Paul Desiderio came up with 20 points and Aaron Jeruta had 11 markers for the Bakers.
Down by 14 points in the second quarter, the Bakers regained their bearings in the third frame and dropped 38 points to take a 70-61 lead heading into the final quarter.
After a quiet first half, scored 15 in the thirdm, while Ebondo, Jeruta, and Rich Guinitaran combined for 17 markers.
"Malas kami in breaking the zone but we focused on defense in the second half," said Cafe France coach Egay Macaraya.
Robbie Herndon paced Victoria with 20 points, while Aris Dionisio had an all-around outing of 14 points, 12 rebounds, two assists, two blocks, and two steals.
