Cafe France so eager to atone for shock loss

    Apr 24, 2013
“We have to treat every game like a championship game. We may not be a powerhouse team but no team will take us lightly because we are on top. So we have to build a winning attitude and character,” says Cafe France coach Egay Macaraya. Jerome

CAFÉ France seeks to recover from its recent loss when it tackles Cebuana Lhuillier on Thursday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Their 50-55 loss to Boracay Rum on Tuesday dropped the Bakers from second to third place with a 5-3 win-loss card while propelling four-time defending champion NLEX (5-2) to second place.

Café France coach Egay Macaraya told his wards to forget about the loss and focus on the battle against the Gems in the second game of a tripleheader at 2 p.m.

“We have to move forward by accepting the loss and get ready for Cebuana,” said Macaraya.

“We have to treat every game like a championship game. We may not be a powerhouse team but no team will take us lightly because we are on top. So we have to build a winning attitude and character,” said Macaraya.

In other matches, Fruitas (4-3) tries to move up from the middle of the pack when it goes up against winless Informatics at 12 noon.

Big Chill, meanwhile, seeks to break its up-and-down run when the Superchargers (4-4) go for their second straight win against the improving Jumbo Plastic (3-5) at 4 p.m.

The top two teams will advance outright to the semifinals while the third- and fourth-placed teams will have a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals against the fifth and sixth teams, respectively.

Fruitas has lost two in a row to drop to joint fifth with EA Regen Medical Group.

Big Chill, a winner against Informatics, 92-63, last Monday, will face a Jumbo Plastic team that is beginning to find its groove after winning two straight games to stay in contention for the playoffs.
