PBA D-League tie-up with Ginebra a major boost for BreadStory-Lyceum side

    Nov 13, 2014

BREADSTORY-LYCEUM has forged a tie-up with Barangay Ginebra San Miguel in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup, making the Pirates the affiliate team of the country’s most popular ballclub.

Barangay Ginebra alternate team governor Alfrancis Chua said the tie-up will be a big boost to the basketball program of Lyceum.

“Not only do I support LPU’s basketball program, but I believe in BreadStory-LPU’s system and I believe in their fighting spirit. Plus, I think this will be for the good of the Barangay Ginebra squad,” said Chua, who has been seen in a number of Lyceum games during the NCAA season.

Chua said the tie-up is also a way for Barangay Ginebra to help develop new talent in the amateur ranks.

“It’s a stepping stone for all of the players of BreadStory, but it will take time before they will make it. For sure, the players of BreadStory and LPU will learn a lot in terms of experience and hopefully they will make it to the PBA,” Chua said.

BreadStory coach Bonnie Tan said the partnership will boost the image of the Lyceum basketball program that has produced top pros like Gary David and Chico Lanete.

“The D-League is a different league altogether. The competition is tougher, the players are already ripe for the PBA, and it's perfect for the players to boost their confidence and their level of competitiveness on the court,” said Chua.
