Children at Silong Tanglaw Foundation get early Christmas treat from D-League side BreadStory-Lyceum

    Dec 20, 2014

THE children of Silong Tanglaw Foundation Center got an early Christmas treat when the BreadStory-Lyceum of the Philippines University team visited the all-boys shelter on Thursday night.

The team played its last PBA D-League game of 2014 earlier in the day at Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City and went straight to the shelter located at G. Araneta Avenue in Quezon City.

The game result wasn’t what Bread story expected, but the players were still in high spirits as they conducted basketball drills and partnered with the kids in a shooting contest.

Everyone sang along to Christmas carol and shared meals before the kids inside the foundation surprised their guests with lively surprise dance numbers.

LPU mainstays Dexter Zamora and Wilson Baltazar said they were so moved by the kids’ performances that they vowed to return and give support to the shelter.

Zamora, together with his Smashing Bakers teammates, donated clothing and basketball apparel to the 20 kids in the shelter.

Spearheaded by BreadStory-LPU Head Coach Bonnie Tan, together with partners World Balance, Gerry's Grill, Frabelle Corporation, T.A. Fresco Corporation, and One World Music and Sports, the event was organized to help out the shelter’s cause of rehabilitating boys and sheltering them from being exploited as a street child.

Tan said he wants his players to take some time off their busy lives as students and athletes and give back to the community.
