    BREAD Story-Lyceum notched its first-ever victory in the PBA D-League with a 69-64 win over Tanduay Light on Thursday in the Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

    Arellano cager Jiovani Jalalon scored a game-high 15 points for the Lyceum-backed Smashing Bakers, who made their run late in the third quarter en route to their first win in the D-League after two losses.

    Jalalon tied the game at 50 with a lay-up before the Smashing Bakers took the lead for good with a triple by Louie Vigil in the third. Jalalon also scored six of Lyceum’s 14 points in the final period.

    With Bread Story leading 62-60 in the final period, Joseph Gabayni hit a deuce and Jeremiah Taladua converted a triple for a seven-point cushion with two minutes left in the game.

    John Foronda had 11 points while Robin Rono chipped in 10 for Tanduay, which lost for the second straight time even as head coach Lawrence Chongson returned after serving a one-game suspension.

    Tanduay appeared to have total control of the game in the first three quarters but shot a miserable 2-of-15 from the field and 8-of-16 from the foul line in the final period.

    Tanduay Light (64)—Foronda 11, Rono 10, Cenal 7, Mandani 6, Sumang 6, Belencion 6, Ilagan 4, Ignacio 3, De Leon 3, Abrigo 2, Jumao-as 2, Banal 2, Tagarda 2.

    Quarters: 20-24, 39-45, 55-52, 69-64.
