BRADWYN Guinto had 18 points and 14 rebounds as Cebuana Lhuillier overcame a slow start to beat newcomer Racal Motors, 89-70, on Monday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
Guinto had 11 points in the first half as the San Sebastian Stag helped the Gems race back from a 16-2 first quarter deficit to start the conference with a victory.
Triples by Paul Zamar and Allan Mangahas in the second period put the Gems ahead, 29-28. Cebuana Lhuillier increase the lead to 76-54 in the final period.
“’Yun ang pinakamahirap sa team, ’yung opening game,” said Cebuana Lhuillier coach Boycie Zamar. “It’s a good thing na naka-recover after reminding them na every possession counts.”
Mangahas and Zamar each had 13 points and combined for 10 rebounds and eight assists for the Gems, who played minus Kevin Ferrer, who is out with an injury, and Norbert Torres, still waiting for a PBA-mandated Bureau of Immigration clearance.
Almond Vosotros also had a fine debut in the developmental league as the La Salle Green Archer contributed 11 points and six assists.
