Lingganay, Cabrera show way as Boracay Rum turns back Big Chill

    Apr 21, 2014

RUDY Lingganay and Roider Cabrera combined for14 points in the final period as Boracay Rum topped Big Chill, 76-70, on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at the JCSGO Gym in Quezon City.

Lingganay had a game-high 14 points while Cabrera pumped in 12 for the Waves as they posted their third win in five games to take fourth spot in the standings.

The Waves took a nine-point lead in the fourth period after a 16-5 blast, with Lingganay and Cabrera capping that run by scoring seven unanswered points.

Boracay Rum assistant coach Bert Flores was pleased with the intensity of the squad after bowing to Hog’s Breath in overtime, 95-99, in their previous outing last April 8.

“’Yun ang kailangan ko sa kanila. Wala ’yung ball movement, extra pass, wala ’yung intensity nung game na ’yun,” said Flores, pinch-hitting for head coach Lawrence Chongson.

Raymond Ilagan had 13 points, as Chris Banchero added 10 points, six assists, and two steals.

Big Chill fell to a 2-3 win-loss slate despite 18 points from Janus Lozada and 13 points and 15 rebounds from Rodney Brondial.

    The scores:

    Boracay Rum (76) – Lingganay 14, Ilagan 13, Cabrera 12, Banchero 10, Belo 9, Rono 7, Caperal 4, Taha 3, Eguilos 2, Bautista 2, Siruma 0, Ignacio 0, Tagarda 0.
