BORACAY Rum came out firing from the start and clobbered Wangs Basketball, 90-68, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the JCSGO gym in Quezon City.
The Waves started out the game with eight straight points, then went on a 9-0 blast to end the first period for a 19-4 lead en route to the big victory.
Paolo Taha had 20 points while Chris Banchero tallied 16 markers to lead the Waves, who evened their record to 6-6 after a defeat against Jumbo Plastic Linoleum last Tuesday that snapped their three-game winning streak.
The Waves, however, are well behind the race for slots in the six-team playoffs with just one game left to play, against Big Chill on January 27. The top two advance to the semifinals outright, and the third to sixth place teams play in the quarterfinals.
Wangs Basketball ended its maiden conference with a 4-9 win-loss slate.
