BORACAY Rum finally broke its slump on Thursday when it defeated Arellano-Air21, 71-63, in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Chris Banchero scored a game-high 20 points, while Stephen Siruma and Roider Cabrera each had 11 points for the Waves, who ended their three-game skid.
Boracay improved its record to 3-5 win-loss as head coach Lawrence Chongson remained optimistic about the Waves' chances.
“We got into this situation because of the quirks of the schedule,” Chongson said. “Natapat agad kami sa malalakas. But we’re taking it as a challenge. Hopefully, things would be better.”
“I’m just hoping we will be able to iron out these issues during the holiday break,” Chongson said.
The Chiefs have lost four straight games to drop to 1-7.
