CHRIS Banchero and Mark Belo helped Boracay Rum get back to its winning ways, defeating National University-Banco De Oro, 73-63, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Banchero and Belo had 20 points each as Waves halted their two-game skid and evened their record to 2-2.
Banchero also had eight points, seven assists, and three steals, while Belo added six rebounds for the Waves, who suffered losses to Blackwater Sports and Café France after winning their first game of the conference.
“I thought it was a chemistry issue having new players as part of the rotation,” said Boracay Rum coach Lawrence Chongson on the losses. “Ina-address naman namin little by little. Breaks lang naman ’yung talo namin.”
The Bulldogs suffered their third loss in as many games.
Back-to-back baskets by Belo gave the Waves a 48-34 lead midway in the third period after leading by six points at the half, 37-31.
NU-BDO was able to cut the deficit to three points, 59-56, early in the fourth quarter but Roider Cabrera hit a four-point play that ended the Bulldogs’ run.
