BONG Quinto scored 12 of his 28 points in the fourth quarter as Tanduay scored a 99-93 victory over AMA Online Education in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena.
The Rhum Masters made it back-to-back wins after a losing start to the tournament, while dealing the Titans their second straight defeat.
Paul Sanga had 15 of his 22 points in the second period for Tanduay, which led by as many as 17 points.
“Hopefully, maging magandang experience para sa amin for the tougher battles ahead,” said Tanduay head coach Lawrence Chongson.
Tanduay was on fire from the field, connecting on 62 percent of its shots (37-of-60) including a 9-of-12 clip from Quinto, who was a perfect 3-of-3 from threes.
Jeron Teng had 26 points on 11-of-20 shooting even as the Rhum Masters defense focused on the former LA Salle star.
Quinto clustered five straight points in a 6-0 run by the Rhum Masters in the fourth quarter to grab a 10-point lead, 89-79, with 2:29 left.
