BONBON Batiller relishes his stint with Letran after his departure from the University of the East.
Batiller is scheduled to play for the Knights this year in the NCAA after being dropped from the UE line-up in 2016. He sat out last year for residency, but is currently playing for Wangs, Letran’s team in the PBA D-League.
The 23-year-old guard said he is so thankful to Letran coach Jeff Napa for the trust and confidence he is giving to him despite his unceremonious exit at UE. Batiller was the leading scorer of the Red Warriors in 2015.
Malaking pasalamat ko kay coach Jeff na binigay niya ‘yung kumpiyansa niya,” he said.
The native of General Santos City also said he doesn’t believe his one-year absence from the major leagues slowed down his progress as he has played in competitive leagues in Team B.
‘Yung kumpiyansa ni coach Jeff, binibigay niya talaga,” Batiller said.
In his first PBA D-League game, Batiller was the second leading scorer of the Wangs-Letran Couriers with 15 points, five rebounds, and three assists.
Mas competitive ‘yung mga player,” said Batiller.
As far as his readiness in the NCAA is concerned, Batiller, who still has two years to play in the league, said he still has a long way to go.
“Opo,” said Batiller, when asked if he is excited to play in the NCAA. “Pero kailangan pa mag-trabaho. Kailangan pa magpa-kundisyon.”
