GILBERT Bulawan had 22 points and eight rebounds as Blackwater Sports downed Jumbo Plastic Linoleum, 91-86, on Tuesday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City to advance to the PBA D-League Foundation Cup finals.
Mark Cruz added 14 points, while Kevin Ferrer grabbed a team-high 14 rebounds to lead the Elite to a 2-0 sweep of their semifinal series against the Giants.
“’Yung experience nung mga veterans were carried on sa ibang players. Hopefully, we will learn more from this victory,” said Blackwater coach Leo Isaac.
Jumbo Plastic scored 11 straight points to tie the game at 80, but Bulawan broke the deadlock then joined forces with Jericho Cruz and Reil Cervantes in the fourth quarter to stave off a Jumbo Plastic comeback.
“Dapat kami ang aggressive sa laro. We made adjustments with their physical brand of game,” said Isaac.
Cervantes added 13 points while Cruz and Don Trollano each had nine markers.
Jeff Viernes and Jerick Canada had 19 and 18 points, respectively, as they spearheaded Jumbo Plastic’s fightback from an 80-69 deficit, but didn’t get enough support from the rest of the Giants.
