BLACKWATER Sports is planning to go after the security agency of Ateneo for compensation following a robbery incident inside the team's dugout at the Blue Eagle Gym on Tuesday.
A person close to the Blackwater Sports players said the team is planning to seek damages from the security agency, instead of the school, after thieves ransacked their dugout while the Elite’s match against EA Regen Medical Group was in progress.
The PBA, through commissioner Chito Salud, had already issued a statement saying it will ask compensation for the lost items from the school.
More than P60,000 worth of cash and mobile gadgets were stolen from 10 Blackwater players, including former Blue Eagles Bacon Austria and Justin Chua, in the heist that happened inside the Ateneo campus in Katipunan. The Elite won the game, 71-67.
The team has yet to get answers from school and security officials on how thieves were able to enter the Blackwater dugout even though it was padlocked and there was only one entry and exit point.
Ironically, Blackwater is scheduled to return to the Blue Eagle Gym again on Monday when it takes on four-time champion NLEX in a crucial D-League match-up.
