BLACKWATER Sports has asked the PBA D-League for a change in schedule as the Elite would be missing the services of national players Kevin Ferrer and Jericho Cruz during the 2013 Southeast Asian Games.
Coach Leo Isaac said the league has not approved the team’s request of moving two games that are set to be played while the Gilas cadet team sees action in the SEA Games competition set December 8 to 16 in Nay Pyi Taw in Myanmar.
“Hindi pa ata na-aapprove ’yung request namin to change the schedule during the time of the SEA Games,” Isaac said. “During that stint ng SEA Games, may naka-schedule kaming laro. Sana ma-move para hindi naman kami maapektuhan.”
The Foundation Cup titlist will battle Jumbo Plastic Linoleum on December 12. The Elite are also scheduled to play Hogs Breath Café on Dec. 17, the date the national team is expected to return from Myanmar.
Isaac said that their games should also be moved since four-time champion NLEX, which also has Gilas cadets on its roster, is not scheduled to play a game during the SEA Games.
“Bakit ’yung schedule, walang game ang NLEX during the time of the SEA Games? Naka-plantsa para sa NLEX. May player din kami sa national team, dapat wala rin kaming game para parehas sa lahat,” Isaac said.
“Sana ma-approve naman. Maganda naman ’yung sinabi nila,” said Isaac.
