BLACKWATER Sports put up a strong start to make up for its poor debut in the conference, defeating Boracay Rum, 84-60, on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Elite posted a sizeable lead, 48-25, at the half and never looked back, a far cry from their first game against Big Chill where they were handily beaten as early as the first two quarters.
“Pinakita ko sa kanila na they played only in the third and fourth quarter na nakaporma na ang kalaban,” said Blackwater Sports coach Leo Isaac.
Blackwater Sports bowed to Big Chill, 63-74, in its opening game.
“Ang adjustment namin, first quarter pa lang laban agad. Noong first game, pakiramdaman pa lang pero ngayon dapat, alam mo na agad ang role mo sa opening tip-off palang,” Isaac said.
University of Santo Tomas’ Kevin Ferrer led the Elite with 17 points and eight rebounds while Justin Chua and Ian Mazo had 12 markers each.
The Waves, who were outscored by the Elite, 10-28, in the second period, remained winless in four outings.
Paolo Taha had 16 points while Toto Bandaying finished with 11 for Boracay Rum.
