BIG CHILL survived a scare from Arellano-Air21, pulling off a 70-63 victory on Tuesday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Blue Eagle Gym.
Janus Lozada buried a triple with 18.8 seconds to play to give the Superchargers a six-point lead en route to their seventh victory in eight outings.
The Chiefs surprisingly put up a good challenge against the Superchargers but still fell to a 1-7 win-loss record.
Reil Cervantes led Big Chill with 20 points including seven that kept Arellano-Air21 at bay. Lozada added 18 points and led the Superchargers’ 8-2 wind-up to stave off an upset loss.
“We had a good run in the first quarter but we somehow lost our momentum when our second unit came in,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison.
“Arellano capitalized on it, kept the game close and gained some confidence. But I thought we did a good job closing out the game.”
Brian Heruela added 13 points and 10 assists for the Superchargers, who only scored nine points in the second quarter that allowed the Chiefs to come storming back.
Joshua Webb had 15 points for the Chiefs.
