BIG Chill whipped Cebuana Lhuiller, 81-61, for its third straight win and a share of the lead in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Mark Canlas scored 18 points and Arvie Bringas added 18 as the Superchargers matched NLEX’s 3-0 win-loss mark.
Mac Montilla came up with 15 points and Terrence Romeo had 11 for Big Chill, which used a huge second quarter to take control of the game.
The Superchargers’ 13-point lead at halftime was trimmed down to six at the end of the third period, 45-59, after June Dizon hit back-to-back baskets and Paul Zamar drained two baskets from beyond the arc.
But Big Chill regrouped and came with a 9-2 run in the dying minutes to keep its record spotless.
“I’m very satisfied with sa laro. I told them that we should start strong and finish strong,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison.
“My key players stepped up this game. We really worked hard on our defense,” he added.
Zamar led the Gems with 20 points, hitting four of seven shots from the three-point line, while Dizon had 16 points. Cebuana Lhuiller is now in eighth spot with 1-2 record.
