BIG Chill looks to keep its slate unblemished and join NLEX on top of the standings when it goes up against Cebuana Lhuillier on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Following two straight victories to open the conference, Big Chill coach Robert Sison is expecting a physical game with veteran-laden Cebuana Lhuillier in their 4 p.m. encounter.
The Gems, who have no player under the age of 24, are coming off a heartbreaking 90-91 loss to Fruitas and Sison believes the veterans may try to muscle their way to victory.
“We are expecting Cebuana to go all out since they are coming off a loss in their last game,” said Sison, who will rely heavily on Terrence Romeo, Arvie Bringas, and Ryan Buenafe against the Gems.
“We are also expecting Cebuana to give us different looks in their defense. But we’ll be ready for anything Cebuana would give us,” Sison said.
A win will tie Big Chill with NLEX, which defeated Jose Rizal University 91-87 in come-from-behind fashion for a 3-0 win-loss card.
Erase XFoliant, meanwhile, goes for its third win against Café France at 2 p.m.
The Erasers have won back-to-back games, defeating newcomer Informatics, 79-68, on Monday, and will look to tie the Cagayan Valley Rising Suns for second place in the standings.
Multi-titled coach Aric Del Rosario said his conservative goal is to avoid getting the early boot.
“Huwag lang kami matatanggal agad, masaya na ako. Pero siyempre, gusto kong umabot sa semifinals,” Del Rosario said.
Del Rosario also said he doesn’t have an idea how Café France plays except that the Bakers are 1-1 so far in the elimination round. He vowed not to take the Bakers lightly.
“Siyempre kailangang mamuhunan (ng panalo),” said Del Rosario.
