BIG Chill responded to a shock defeat last week with a lopsided 82-60 victory over Boracay Rum on Monday in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup at The Arena in San Juan.
Terrence Romeo keyed a 17-0 pullaway by Big Chill in the first period, notching eight of his 15 points in the first quarter in his first game back after missing two months with an injured right hand.
Romeo broke his hand in January during the final stages of the elimination round of the Aspirants Cup, forcing him to sit out the first two games of Big Chill this conference.
Romeo’s return proved to be a big boost after the Superchargers were stunned 69-63 by league newcomer Hogs Breath Café last week.
“I’m happy that we got this win,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison. “’Yung pagkatalo namin sa Hogs Breath affected our morale.”
“But Terrence’s return boosted our team,” Sison added.
That first quarter run turned a 5-4 lead into a big 22-4 advantage and Big Chill snapped Boracay Rum’s win streak at two.
“Nakita ko naman na bumalik na ’yung laro ng team. We were able to get our confidence back,” Sison said.
Janus Lozada had four triples to finish with 18 points, while Arvie Bringas chipped in 16 points, eight rebounds, and three steals.
Boracay Rum slipped to an even 2-2 win-loss card.
