BIG CHILL forced a deciding match for a finals slot with a 95-84 win over Blackwater Sports on Thursday in Game Two of the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup semifinals at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
The Superchargers erupted in the second quarter to build a sizeable lead en route to forcing a Game Three to be played on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
“With our backs against the wall, it showed the character of the team,” said Big Chill coach Robert Sison. “They didn’t back down. They showed their heart and we made some big plays.”
Big Chill went on a 16-2 run in the second quarter before finishing the half with nine straight markers to post a 55-40 lead.
The trend continued as the Superchargers opened the third with seven straight points for the largest margin of the game at 62-40.
After advancing to the semifinals as the sixth-seed, Blackwater Sports snapped its four-game winning streak.
The closest Blackwater got was six points after a Gilbert Bulawan free throw, 88-82, but Reil Cervantes scored on a dunk before Jeckster Apinan followed with a three-point play for an 11-point edge.
Dexter Maiquez led Big Chill with 25 points, while Juneric Baloria and Jeckster Apinan chipped in 13 markers each.
