BATANGAS-EAC may have fallen short of reaching the semifinals of the 2018 PBA D-League Foundation Cup, but Earvin Mendoza was proud of the fight his team showed the entire conference.
And what better way for the Generals to cap off their stint than with a 91-78 victory over AMA Online Education on Monday.
“Para sa amin yung mga ganitong games, dapat talaga namin ipanalo para sa team na rin, para rin maibalik namin doon sa mga tumutulong sa amin para hindi sila mawalan ng gana tumulong sa amin sa susunod,” he said.
Mendoza has been a staple of the team since the Generals’ initial foray last season, and though they did not reach their goals this conference, the guard was glad to see the heart of the team every time they took the court.
“Yung heart lang namin, yung pride namin para sa depensa at sa opensa, tsaka yung focus namin sa game, yun ang pinaka-proud ako,” he said.
Batangas-EAC showed a lot of grit this conference, notching a handful of upsets, the biggest of which was an 87-85 upset of Go for Gold last July 5 that kept the squad in the playoff race.
Unfortunately, three straight defeats took the Generals out of contention and the win over the Titans served as a saving grace for their campaign to finish with a record of four wins against six losses.
Still, the experience the team garnered individually and as a whole is going to be huge for them as they move on to their next chapters.
“Siguro individually, marami kaming mga gustong salihan,” said Mendoza. “Baka magpa-draft na rin kami so kailangan maging ready na.”
