BATANGAS-EAC scored its first win in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup, trouncing Jose Rizal University, 81-71, on Monday at the Pasig City Sports Center.
The Generals notched their first victory after a horrendous 0-4 start to the conference, while adding to the misery of the Heavy Bombers.
JRU absorbed its fourth straight loss after starting the conference with a win.
The Generals raced off to a 20-8 start and staved off a late JRU uprising.
The Heavy Bombers chewed away chunks of a 43-66 lead entering the final frame but Batangas-EAC restored order to pick up the elusive victory.
Cedric Ablaza led the way for Batangas with a double-double outing of 16 points and 11 rebounds.
Cedric De Joya had 11 points, three rebounds and four assists, while Jerome Garcia also had 11 points to go with five boards and three dimes.
Earvin Mendoza added 11 markers.
"We've been wanting to win and we're very thankful na nagawa namin ng maayos yung gameplan," said Batangas coach Ariel Sison.
Jeckster Apinan and Kris Porter had 16 points apiece for JRU.
