BATANGAS-EAC came up with a furious rally in the second half to beat winless AMA Online, 91-78, in a battle of two-also ran teams in the PBA D-League Foundation Cup on Monday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.
Trailing by 10 near the end of the third period, the Generals embarked on a blistering 21-0 run bridging the third and fourth periods to improve to 4-6 for the tournament.
The Generals held the Titans scoreless for nearly six and a half minutes, with their first points in the fourth quarter coming in the 4:52 mark on a Carlo Garcia floater.
“We are very grateful with the turnaround from our game na napakasama. Nakarecover yung mga players. Credit to them,” said Batangas head coach Oliver Bunyi.
“Di ko na masyadong ginamit yung board. I told them it’s all in their hands. May tinatawag kaming perfect effort and na-accomplish namin yun,” he added.
Earvin Mendoza led that rally for the Generals, and he finished with 24 points, spiked by six triples, to go along three assists and three steals. Cedric de Joya added 18 points as Jebb Bulawan finished with 15 points, 10 boards and three blocked shots.
Owen Graham’s monster double-double of 20 rebounds and 15 points, along with three steals and three blocks, was wasted as the Titans absorbed their 10th loss in as many games.
Domark Matillano scored 19 points for AMA.
