BASKETBALL, indeed, never stops for Kevin Alas.
The amateur star sneaked in some hoops time during Holy Week as he played pickup games with friends and neighbors at the court inside Pilar village in Las Piñas on a hot Maundy Thursday.
“Syempre, basketball buhay ko na yan eh,” Alas said in a chat with Spin.ph on Good Friday. “Maaga kasi natapos family mag-Visita Iglesia, kaya sayang naman kung palalagpasin ko `yung araw na di ako nakapag-work out.”
While others are on vacation, the 22-year-old product of Letran who showcases his wares in the PBA D-League with NLEX, made the most of his free time on Thursday night.
“Advantage para sa akin na nakakapag-work out ako kahit Holy Week,” said the combo guard, who is also preparing for the PBA rookie draft later this year.
Alas said parents, coach Louie and mom Liza, allowed him to play.
“Hindi naman (ako pinagalitan), kasi alam naman nila na nakakatulong sa akin pag nag-wo-work out ako eh.”
NLEX practice, according Alas, resumes on Black Saturday, before the Road Warriors plunge back to D-League action against Derulo on Monday.
