BORACAY Rum trounced slumping Zambales M-Builders, 83-66, on Thursday in the PBA D-League Aspirants Cup at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.
Chris Banchero had 18 points, while Jeff Viernes tallied 14 markers for the Waves, who also got 12 points each from Roider Cabrera and Paolo Taha.
Boracay Rum improved its record to 4-5, and head coach Lawrence Chongson remains hopeful they can climb from the bottom half of the standings.
“Bad start lang, hindi naging maganda ‘yung preparasyon namin. Maraming factors na hindi namin nalabanan kaya umabot sa ganitong sitwasyon,” said Chongson.
“Hindi ko na iniisip ‘yun (playoff chances). We will try to win as many games as possible,” he said.
Zambales continued to struggle as it fell to 2-8 win-loss.
