RACAL and Tanduay go for the kill when they take on separate foes in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup semifinals on Thursday.

The Tile Masters are on the verge of a maiden finals appearance after Sidney Onwubere’s last-gasp triple clinched a 88-86 win in the opener their best-of-three series against Cafe France.

Game Two starts at 5 p.m. at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig, after the 3 p.m. tussle between the Rhum Masters and Cignal-San Beda.

Racal coach Jerry Codinera said they are bracing for another tough match but vowed they will be prepared to close out Cignal on Thursday.

“The name of the game is we have to be patient. Anything can happen, anything is possible," he said. "We expected a down-the-wire affair (in Game One) and tama nga dahil ganoon ang nangyari. We expect nothing less than that sa Game Two."

If Cafe France hopes to extend the series, coach Egay Macaraya said his team must step up to help Congolese slotman Rod Ebondo, who carried the bulk of the load for the Bakers in the opening game with 30 points and 13 rebounds.

“With a young team like this, I know we can develop more and we could improve more knowing all of these circumstances na nangyari,” Macaraya said. “[But] we cannot rely on just Ebondo. He needs the help.”

On the other hand, Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez hopes to fire up his wards and force a deciding match. The Hawkeyes are raring to bounce back after the loss that saw them dish out just seven assists and go 0-of-17 from the three-point area.

“I just told them that it's not yet over. Tanduay has to beat us one more time," said Fernandez.

"So for us, we just have to see what we've done wrong and try to adjust. And hopefully we can recover, take good care of Game Two, and look forward for Game Three," he added.
