Surging Cignal-San Beda braces for tough D-League test against Tanduay

CIGNAL-San Beda and Cafe France aim to solidify their hold on the second spot when they take on separate foes in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Thursday.

Tied with Cafe France at second with identical 4-1 card, the Hawkeyes are riding a four-game winning streak thanks to steady performances from Robert Bolick, Jason Perkins, and Davon Potts.

And they will capitalize on that momentum as they brace for a dangerous Tanduay side (3-2) in the 5 p.m. match at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig.

As solid as the team has been this conference, Cignal coach Boyet Fernandez said the Hawkeyes are still a "work in progress."

"We're trying to prepare ourselves for our future games. We're still a work in progress," said Fernandez.

Meanwhile, the Bakers tackle Victoria in the curtain raiser at 3 p.m.

Although they are taking on a relatively light opponent, Cafe France coach Egay Macaraya said he wants to see more from his wards in this "learning phase."

"Right now maganda naman ang results para sa amin pero hopefully every game we learn," said Macaraya.

Fresh from hacking out its first win of the conference at the expense of Jose Rizal University, Victoria Sports is hopeful it can build on the victory going forward.

Now that they got a taste of a W to improve to a 1-4 record, Robbie Herndon said they can't help but crave for more.

"It feels really good to get the first win and we like to keep it going," Herndon said
