AMA expects other players to step up as Titans battle Blustar without top gun Jeron Teng

    Feb 20, 2017

AMA Online Education faces a daunting task as the Titans take on Blustar Detergent in the PBA D-League Aspirants' Cup on Tuesday without top scorer Jeron Teng.

Gametime is set at 11 a.m. at the JCSGO Gym in Cubao, with the Titans looking to improve a 4-2 card in the absence of Teng, who is currently playing for Mighty Sports in the Dubai International Basketball Tournament.

AMA coach Mark Herrera, though, is confident his team will pull through. After all, he has a lot of weapons at his disposal in Juami Tiongson, Jay-R Taganas, Gino Jumao-as, PJ Barua, to name a few.

"Di naman kami totally umaasa lang kay Jeron," said Herrera, whose prized cager leads the league in scoring with 26 points per outing.

"May iba rin naman kaming players na capable mag-step up. So maga-adjust kami," he added.

The Titans cannot take Blustar lightly, though.

The Dragons are now reinforced by two PBA players in Blackwater picks Jason Melano and Tristan Perez, who had a stellar debut with the team after dropping 29 points in a 109-79 loss to Cignal-San Beda.

Perez is hell-bent on helping the team carve its first win in five games.

"Sana makuha na namin yung una naming panalo against AMA," said Perez.

Meanwhile, Batangas and Wangs, both owning identical 1-4 cards, hope to climb out of the cellar as they collide in the 1 p.m. match.
